Pup-Lees

My parent's dog had puppies, 7 of them! I made the trip up so my kids could see them. Boy, they were so darn cute!
Hannah and Gavin were so careful and sweet with them.
Princess Hannah with her baby puppyGavin loves dogs. He cracks me up with the way he talks to them. He was authoritative, but loving.

Luke doesn't know how to be soft yet. Baby and puppies, it doesn't get cuter that this!
The puppies are almost 6 weeks old and ready for adoption.

Our February

It has been too long, but I have several good excuses.
January was a quiet month, I finally started to feel like I was getting back into a good routine. I had adjusted to having a new little baby. My house started to get cleaner, I was getting the laundry done!!!
Hannah got into Junior Kindergarten the beginning of February. She goes to school Monday-Friday, from 8:15am-2:32pm. We leave the house at 7:45 so we have plenty of time to get to school and she can play for ten minutes before the bell rings. She brings her lunch to school and has a backpack and everything.
Hannah had "Crazy Day" at school. She wore a crazy outfit. When I dropped her off I didn't see any kids in crazy outfits, I started to panic. I dropped her off and ran into the office to ask. I didn't want to scar her for life by making her dress this way for no reason. Thank goodness it was "Crazy Day." When I walked out I started to notice other kids, but none of them had Hannah's school spirit!I enrolled Gavin back into Tiny Tots through the Parks and Rec program. He loves it. He goes Tuesday and Thursday 8:30-2:00. Tuesday and Thursday mornings are quite busy at our house. They love school and I love both of them in school. It's crazy to think I have 2 kids in school. I get so giddy sometimes on Tuesday and Thursday. Just one baby, it's soooo easy! I like to do my running around during this time and I have even gone out to lunch a few times with old friends.

Palm Springs:
My parents took us all to Palm Springs the first weekend in February for my birthday. It was a fun trip! We took the Palm Springs Aerial Tram up to the snow. It was amazing! In ten minutes we went from the desert to the tops of the snowy mountains. The ride was beautiful and pretty exciting. Every time you switch to a new line the tram sways and you are suspended in air for a moment.
It was a 10 minute walk from the lodge to a suitable place to play in the snow. Hannah and my Dad had a blast. The first thing Hannah did was throw her bundled little body on the snow and made a snow angel. Poor Gavin was freezing and miserable. He didn't last long. Luke was bundled in his infant carrier. Luke fell asleep in the car on the way to the tram and slept the whole way up the tram, down the path, playing in the snow, walking up the path, down the tram in the car and didn't wake up until we were in the restaurant eating lunch!

We had fun swimming in the 85 degree pool and I won the Scrabble Tournament that night! Kevin taught Gavin how to play ping-pong. He was able to hit the ball a few times. It was so nice to spend some time with my family and so nice to spend some time with my husband alone! My mom watched Luke a few times so we could go for a walk or sit in the hot tub.

I can't wait to go back this summer and try out the Lazy River (hint hint.... mom)

Valentine's Day:
Kevin and I like to celebrate Valentine's Day a few days earlier. Since my mom was visiting (more on that later) Kevin and I went out to dinner to a fancy restaurant. I left Luke with my mom! When we returned home, our toilet was leaking water. It turned out we had a clogged line. Our first problem with our house. The next morning the plumber came and $125 later we can use our plumbing again. It turned out to be baby wipes. I love my children!

Bikes:
I have always wanted to do a triathlon, but I never had a bike. Kevin bought me a bike for my birthday! I enjoy riding it, but I am very uncomfortable riding it on the street with cars. The bike path along the riverbed is just fine for me. We signed up for our first tri! We are doing a short one in June in Redondo Beach and a longer one in September in Malibu. I'm excited!

My Mom is 50!

My mom turned 50 this past Friday, or as she likes to say, "I'm 25 with 25 years experience." She just couldn't bring herself to say the "f" word... "FIFTY!"
I drove up Thursday night to my parent's house. She didn't know I was coming so when I walked in the door she was estatic! It felt good to give her the best present for her birthday, her most favorite thing in the world... a baby.
Someone "bra-ed" her house. Bras everywhere.

We went to her favorite restaurant for dinner with some of her best friends.
Luke loved watching the onion volcano.
On the way home I asked my mom if she had a good birthday. She said that it was a pretty good one, she was happy. Little did she know that when she got home...
SURPRISE!!!
Actually, to everyone's surprise, my Dad threw her a surprise birthday party!
She was so shocked, she had no idea. All the kids contributed to buy her a ticket to see Wicked, my Dad has to buy his own ticket, take her, and pay for their hotel. My poor Dad.
My Mom and all her girls...

-Happy 50th Birthday!

The Virgos

We spent this weekend with my family. Justin is getting ready to leave on his mission and it was Kairistiona's 18th Birthday today, Jayde's (Grayson's fiance') on the 25th, and Kevin's on the 29.
I made my ice cream cake... it was a hit. It is the perfect combination of ice cream and cake.
Happy Birthday Kairisti, Jayde, and Kevin!

Once a Marine... Always a Marine

This past weekend we joined my family in San Diego for my brother, Grayson's, graduation from Boot Camp. The first day was family day. People are just plain CRAZY! The parents were 100 times worse than pre-school parents. We kept getting shuttled around the base waiting to see our new Marine. Hannah playing on a "big huge gun" while we waited

Here is the first sight of Grayson we got. It was right before the "Moto Run" (motivational run). They had to run 4 miles before they got to see their family.
Then they changed and marched out for us to see them...
Grayson is the 2nd row, second person
Grayson looked really good. I had been warned by several people that he would be totally different. They were all wrong. He was a funny as ever.

The Branch on base hosted a nice luncheon for the families. It was Mormon cooking in its finest. Pull-pork sandwiches, I think Grayson ate 6 of them, along with a couple of hotdogs, and other side dishes.
The next day was the real graduation. My whole family made it! My mom was REALLY proud of her son!
Congratulations Grayson! I look forward to hanging out with you while you are at Camp Pendleton.

Family Update Part II (Knott's Berry Farm)

I just finished my online class!!! Yea!!! I want to celebrate, but what can I do at 10:00 on Sunday night... I celebrated by cleaning the kitchen. It's hard to do house work when you have school work. So I am enjoying my clean kitchen while blogging.

My brother, Michael (#2 in the fam) took the train up from San Diego. The next day we met my family at Knott's Berry Farm for our birthday. We used to go to Knott's every year the day before school started because NO ONE was there. The lines were short, and that's a wonderful thing for a theme park. We have the funnies memories at that place.
We were on the Ferris Wheel in Camp Snoopy one year. My brothers and I decided to try to spit on my dad who was below us. We kept trying, but the wind would blow our spit away.... SPLAT!! Finally, Grayson landed a nice loogie on my Dad's neck. I still remember his face. He patted his neck with his hand, looked at it, patted it again, looked at it again, and then.... realized that we spit on him. We were busted. No more rides for us. But I'll never regret it because I'm still laughing about it at 27.

I love my husband because he takes pictures of the picture of us on the ride... We never buy them.We went on the stage coach ride. Hannah and Gavin loved it. My mom droped her camera case, so we had to stop and the driver had to pick it up.It happened to be Mighty Ducks day at Knott's so Kevin was happy to see some of his favorite players. While he was away (with the camera) Hannah and I panned for gold. $7 to fulfull my childhood memory with Hannah. When she had her gold in the vile, she triped and fell.... shattering her vile of gold. She was devistated. Luckily, Miner Gary hooked her up with a new one full of a bunch of gold.

The best part, of course, was watching Hannah and Gavin love it!
I wish you could hear them laugh!

This one is awesome...

We finished the night off with funnel cake. I got powdered sugar and boysenberry sauce. You have to get boysenberry sauce at Knott's. Boysenberries were invented and Knott's Berry Farm! SO GOOD and SO BAD! Because I'm Courtney I had to estimate how many calories are in 1 funnel cake... 760 calories, that's not including the sugar and sauce. I would estimate a good 1,000 calories for the whole thing. And 68% of your fat intake... ouch!
Next stop... the train ride. Complete with the train robbers. Some things never change...
*Hannah and Kairistiona on the train
It was a great day. It's nice to have so much help with the kids. Thank you Mom and Dad for taking the family to Knott's and buying $60 of funnel cakes!

Familee Girl Night

I took advantage of an out-of-town husband and a daughter without school and went to my family's house. My goal was to do something fun with my mom. I've been dying to go to "Color Me Mine." For those of you who don't know what that is... "Color Me Mine" is a pottery painting studio. You pick out the piece, paint it, and the store glazes it and cooks it. You pick it up about a week later.
Hannah picked a Princess piggy bank. As much as a tried to get her to pick something cheaper, she wouldn't budge. She knew what she wanted.
After 30 coats of paint the princess was dripping. Notice the big pool of paint at the foot of the princess. Luckily, my brother's friend worked at the store and washed off all the paint when Hannah wasn't looking. I'll finish it another time... it just looked awful.
My mom had a lot of fun too. It was good to see her happy with all her girls, minus Lauren. We couldn't get a hold of her to come with us. We are going to do it again in August, hopefully she will be able to make that one.
I had to add this... Why is my little sister driving?!?!?! Scary... I can't believe she is old enough to drive. Being the oldest in my family I've got to witness a lot of firsts... This one shocked me the most.
I made a big bowl. I didn't have enough time to finish it for obvious Princess reasons. I plan to go all by myself and finish it here in Long Beach. While I'm at it, I'll finish the princess too. Good thing Hannah believes in magic.

Birthday Party!

This year I decided to go BIG! I combined Hannah and Gavin's birthday parties into one big event. We rented out the Gymnastics Center at the YMCA and had a blast!Hannah and her best friend Zoe.Hannah and her boyfriend Jake.
Gavin loved the foam pit.

My whole family came... we haven't all been together since February 2006. I don't know how I did it, but I got everyone in the same place at the same time.

Even my grandparents from Oregon, Aunt Debbie, and Mark made it to the party.
Michael drove up from San Diego with my new cousin, Allison. They had never met before and this was kind of a psuedo blind date. (Kevin's Aunt Marilyn got married and this is her new stepdaughter. She is so much fun and can totally dish it out to Kevin, a quality I like in her.

Grandma and Grandpa Brown had a good time watching Hannah and Gavin.

I'm not sure who had more fun... the adults or the kids. I witnessed my 52 year old father do a back flip on the trampoline and attempt some funky dismount on the uneven bars. I don't think I've laughed so hard. I wish I had a picture.

Hannah and Gavin scored with all their presents. Hannah had her entourage there to help her.
Gavin's favorite present was from Aunt Rachel and Uncle Aaron. The kid hasn't put down his hockey stick and puck since he opened it.It was utter mayhem and I have no idea who gave what to my kids. I still need to sort it all out.

I made a frog cupcake cake. I've never made a cupcake cake before and I really stressed out about it. When I arranged the cupcakes and asked Kevin for his opinion, it wasn't good. I needed a crafty friend. I called my friend Stacy. She came over after work to save the day. She rearranged the legs and thanks to her I was able to finish the cake. After I frosted the cake the frogs legs turned out to look more like huge buff frog arms. That was my fault, I should have frosted it a little differently. But here is the final product. It was so nice because it was a cake, but pre-cut for the little kiddos.

When we got home I was so exhausted we all went straight to bed. This is what our kitchen looks like now! Now I need to attempt to figure out who gave what to Hannah and Gavin.

Bowlin' in Bakerrrrsfield

My dad decided he wanted to take the family bowling... yes bowling. I think I've bowled 10 times in my life and at least 7 of those were on Wii... does that count? *The random girl is Alexis. My family met her family in Holland and she came to visit.

We all got bowling shoes... even HannahAND GavinI tried to teach Gavin how to bowl, but he kept trying to kick the bowling ball like he was playing soccer.Dado (my dad) was able to help outHe helped Hannah too. She actually knocked down a few pins!We had a great FHE together.
